CHICAGO-Building on the successful three-year run of Real Estate Chicago magazine, Real Estate Media is setting its sights on the entire Midwest market with the launch of Real Estate Mid-America. Real Estate Media president and CEO Jonathan Schein will use the firm’s RealShare Chicago conference, taking place today, to unveil the details of this major launch, scheduled to take place in September.

Real Estate Media is publisher of GlobeSt.com as well as the monthly national magazine Real Estate Forum. It also publishes a host of regional magazines in addition to Real Estate Chicago: Real Estate New York, Real Estate New Jersey and Real Estate Southern California. In recent months, the firm has also rolled out a series of web-based real estate products including GlobeSt.WEEK and Net Lease forum. The RealShare Conference series was introduced in the fall of 2002.

According to Real Estate Mid-America editor Dees Stribling, the new magazine “expands on the Chicago franchise by focusing on an additional nine Midwestern cities: Detroit, the Twin Cities, Cleveland, St. Louis, Kansas City, Milwaukee, Indianapolis, Columbus, OH and Omaha. Stribling is currently editor of Real Estate Chicago. “No other magazine covers these metropolitan areas with the particular focus that Real Estate Chicago is known for. We’re expanding and building upon that format to cover all of the primary Midwest markets where the major deals are happening.”

Despite the move to a broader regional focus, the executives of Real Estate Media maintain that Chicago will continue to figure heavily in the editorial lineup. “In no way will we diminish our commitment to the Chicago real estate market,” comments regional publisher Anthony Karwoski. “Rather, we’re increasing our commitment to the entire Midwestern real estate community.” Karwoski comes to Real Estate Media from VNU, where he was publishing director for the firm’s Real Estate & Buildings Group. He will head the marketing and sales effort for the new magazine.

“The dynamics of the Midwestern market, and Real Estate Media’s acceptance as the market leader, places us in the unique position to make this vision a reality,” says editorial director Michael G. Desiato. “We’re confident that the market will embrace this latest effort.” Real Estate Mid-America will publish 10 times annually, with combined issues in July/August and November/December.
