LONDON-Hermes and St James Securities are about to make a planning application for a 2.35 million-sf project that will transform the western sector of Leeds city centre. The mixed-use scheme–called Wellington Place–includes offices; residential; hotel; restaurant and retail uses and will take 12 years to develop.

Carey Jones Architects’ design breaks the site into 16individual plots. And a quarter of the site will be transformed into public areas with a major event square and a 300-metre tree-lined boulevard as a central feature of the plan.

The design also meets the city council’s objective to open up the banks of the River Aire with a new riverside walkway and a slipway for small boats.
