BOSTON-Kensington Investment Co. filed its development plan with the city for Residences at Kensington Place, its 336-unit residential complex near Washington and LeGrange Streets. The complex sits in what was once the city’s “combat zone” because of the proliferation of bars and adult clubs in the area. There has been a recent effort to revitalize the area.

The developer’s 30-story project, which is reportedly costing about $120 million, exceeds the city’s 155-foot maximum height requirement, but according to Jessica Shumaker, spokesperson for the Boston Redevelopment Authority, the developer wants to create a planned development area that will allow it to go above that zoning requirement.

Shumaker tells GlobeSt.com that Kensington filed its proposal with the city last July and is nearing the end of its city approval process. Shumaker says there could be one more comment period before the city makes its decision.
