ATLANTA-Convincing residents that a formal development plan is in their best future interests, Fulton County elected officials have approved one mixed-use project and are now tackling a second, according to a published report.

After two years of public discussion, the county has approved the 515-acre Crabapple Crossroads venture in the county’s rural northwest corridor which is zoned for 100,000 sf of office, 100,000 sf of commercial and 780 homes, the report states. The residential component was reduced from 800 shelter units.

Headed for a second public discussion July 8 is the 40-acre Birmingham Crossroads plan which comprises commercial land around Birmingham Highway and Birmingham Road, according to the report. The plan envisions a village concept bordered by commercial and office development.
