ARLINGTON, VA-Where the six-decade-old Twin Oaks Terrace Apartments complex once stood, the 19-story Gallery at Rosslyn has risen like a phoenix from the ashes following Donohoe Construction Co.’s recent completion of the $50 million residential development endeavor. “We’re just wrapping up,” Lisa Bryan of Bozzuto Management Co., the firm tapped to manage the Gallery at Rosslyn, confirms with GlobeSt.com. With a nod to preserving options for moderate-income renters, 38 of the 314 luxury apartment units will be reserved as affordable housing offerings.

Carrying the address of 1800 N. Oak St., the Gallery at Rosslyn sits on a 1.5-acre parcel just across the Key Bridge from Washington, DC’s popular Georgetown community. In addition to the residences, the high-rise also offers approximately 4,200 sf of commercial space and three levels of underground parking capable of accommodating 350 vehicles. Residents will also be able to take advantage of space set aside for a state-of-the-art fitness center, business center and events room.

It was three years ago when the Arlington County Board signed off on Donohoe’s site plan, which called for elevation of the land to accommodate the new building. The project was considered an asset to the community. “There is substantial community benefit provided in return for the increase in density,” Board vice chairwoman Barbara Favola said in a May 2000 statement. “The developer has agreed to expand the Affordable Housing Plan term to 40 years or make a payment at the end of 30 years equal to 100% of the market value of the land associated with the increase in density above the Rosslyn Station Area Plan recommendation. He has also agreed to an option for the county to extend the Affordable Housing Plan beyond the 40-year term and has agreed to a donation to the Housing Reserve Fund of $500,000. These contributions will provide affordable housing for a great many deserving families for decades to come.”
