Phase I Move-Ins Complete at Island Village

SAN DIEGO-Another affordable multifamily project has opened its doors in the East Village, with residents having already moved into the first phase of the Island Village Apartments complex here.

Located on the block bounded by Park Boulevard, Island Avenue, 13th and Market streets, the three-building project is slated for completion by the end of this month. At build-out, it will consist of 280 studio units restricted to residents with low or very low incomes. Each apartment will contain a bed, dresser, cable TV, high-speed Internet access, a private bathroom and private kitchen equipped with a microwave oven, sink and small refrigerator. Amenities will include an on-site laundry facility and a communal living room/library.

Taylor Frager Inc. is building the $15-million complex, which was designed by Carrier Johnson and M.W. Steele Group Inc. Barone Galasso & Associates Inc. is the project’s developer.
