WASHINGTON/BALTIMORE REGION-Edens & Avant has continued to strengthen its position as one of the largest private owner/developer of grocery-anchored shopping centers in the US with the recent groundbreaking on two new retail destinations. Arundel Village in Hanover, MD and the Marketplace at Potomac Station in Leesburg, VA are both underway and on target to open in the spring of next year. Edens & Avant’s Susan Sale-Korper tells GlobeSt.com that together, the properties will cost $45 million to develop.

The 86,460-sf Arundel Village will occupy a 12.5-acre parcel of land just two miles outside of the Baltimore-Washington International Airport. Located across from the celebrated 1.3 million-sf Arundel Mills retail and entertainment complex, Arundel Village will feature a 57,860-sf Safeway as its anchor. The Marketplace at Potomac Station features 96,340 sf of space and will have a 56,300-sf Giant Food store to hold down the anchor position. The retail locale will sit on a 19.6-acre parcel off Rte 7.
