NEW YORK CITY-Edward J. Weiss, a 27-year Cushman & Wakefield veteran, has been promoted to vice chairman from executive vice president. Weiss, a recipient of Cushman & Wakefield’s Leone J. Peters Award, presented to the top-producing brokerage professional in the firm’s worldwide network of offices in 49 countries, has earned the top broker distinction three times in the last four years. He is also a member of the firm’s board of directors.

“Ed has consistently proven his professionalism, expertise and ability to his clients,” notes Arthur J. Mirante II, president and chief executive officer of Cushman & Wakefield. “He is someone you can always depend on, and his consistent top performances make him most deserving of this new distinction.” Cushman & Wakefield’s president of US Operations Bruce Mosler, adds, “Ed is one of the firm’s brokers who sets the bar for the entire company. This promotion is emblematic of the leadership he displays to our entire brokerage team worldwide.”

Weiss has handled leasing and sales transactions for clients including the Archdiocese of New York, Dime Savings Bank, Forbes, KPMG Peat Marwick, Reich & Tang, MCI, Meredith Corporation, Shearman & Sterling and Verizon. With his colleagues, Weiss recently negotiated one of the largest transactions in midtown Manhattan–the 1,062,000-sf lease for Ernst & Young’s headquarters at 5 Times Square– as well as the 400,000-sf lease to consolidate the Insurance Services Office headquarters on the New Jersey waterfront and the 450,000-sf consolidation for McCann-Erickson’s worldwide headquarters at 622 Third Ave. Also active with landlord representation, Weiss has served as agent for major projects across the country comprising more than 10 million sf of office space.
