RICHMOND, VA-Fashion retailer Nordstrom Inc. has swung open the doors on a new two-story, 120,000-sf store in the new 1.2 million-sf Short Pump Town Center. Financial terms of Nordstrom’s lease are unavailable, but retail space in regional malls in the Richmond area, where vacancy rates are at a low 5%, goes for $15 to $25 per sf.

“Our goal is to really listen to our customers here in the Richmond area and do our best to earn their business, one customer at a time,” says store manager Megan White. Nordstrom’s joins the list of the mall’s five anchors, which include Dick’s Sporting Goods, Dillard’s, Hecht’s, and Lord & Taylor. For the Seattle-headquartered retailer, the store marks its fifth locale in Virginia, and its 147th outlet overall.
