CHESAPEAKE, VA-Construction work has gotten under way on Sentara Healthcare’s new Greenbrier Medical Office Building. The 40,000-sf structure, which represents the first phase of a multi-faceted, 14-acre Sentara comprehensive healthcare campus endeavor, will cost $5.5 million to complete. Hourigan Construction Corp. is overseeing development of the property.

“Sentara is furthering its longstanding commitment to the health of the Chesapeake community by creating a convenient health care campus nearer to the places Chesapeake residents live and work,” Sentara Enterprises president Donald V. Jellig notes.

When the two-story Greenbrier building at 713 Volvo Parkway comes on line for patients in May of next year, it will house space offering obstetrics, gynecology and primary care services. The hospital organization already houses its Sentara Women’s Health Source in a space at 801 Volvo Parkway in Greenbrier South Shopping Center. Evidence of Sentara’s plan to saturate the community is even evident in non-development deals–in July, the company leased 40,000 in the 137,000-sf Crossways I building at the Crossways at Greenbrier Park business campus to house its nursing school and training facility.
