NORWOOD, MA-A development group has proposed building a Lowe’s Home Center on a 12.5-acre parcel near the corner of Route 1, Dean Street and Kerry Place. Steve Costello, Norwood town planner, tells GlobeSt.com that the Great Island Development Group’s proposal for a 164,000-sf store has been filed with the planning board. The first public meeting regarding the plan was held over with the next one scheduled for mid November. Costello notes that that is fairly standard for a project of this size.

The property, which is being used as a car storage facility, is currently owned by Joseph Laham and located behind a Walgreen’s on a commercial strip. A town representative tells GlobeSt.com that the proposal will require the approval of the town’s conservation commission as a portion of the site is designated as conservation land.
