MILFORD, CT-In a deal announced by CB Richard Ellis, Environmental Data Resources (EDR) has signed a lease for 47,500 sf of space for its corporate headquarters at 440 Wheelers Farms Road here. The company, which currently houses its corporate headquarters at 3530 Post Road in Southport, will occupy space on the top floor of the 440 Wheelers Farms building.

Paul Jacobs, Colin Reilly and Robert Caruso from CB Richard Ellis’ Stamford, CT office represented EDR in the 10-year transaction, while Michael Siegel and Steven Greenbush negotiated on behalf of the property’s owners, Hines Interests LP and Sterling Equities, LLC. EDR is expected to take occupancy of its new corporate headquarters in February 2004.

CBRE officials say that EDR, a national provider of environmental data and property risk information, has grown over the past few years and required additional space. The firm’s Southport headquarters totals approximately 37,000 sf of space. The company was attracted to the 200,000-sf Milford property because a large percentage of its expanding staff resides in lower New Haven and nearby Eastern Fairfield County.

Originally, 440 Wheelers Farms Road did not have a large enough contiguous block of available space to fulfill EDR’s requirements, CBRE officials explain. To free up the necessary space, two of the property’s existing tenants were relocated within the building. Wright Investors, which occupied what is to become EDR’s new space, moved its operations to 18,000 sf on the second floor, while Aliquant Corp., a benefits provider, moved its offices from 10,000 sf on the second floor to 13,000 sf on the first floor of the building. Other tenants at the building include One Beacon Insurance Co., Cox Communications and Turner Construction.
