READING, PA-The two-building, 292,000-sf data center and office complex owned and formerly occupied by Met-Ed, the regional electric utility company, is up for sale or lease. The marketing team is led by Colton Brown, associate director, and Eric Witmondt, CEO of Parsippany, NJ-based GVA Williams with local market representation by John Susanin of GVA Smith Mack, which is based in Wayne, PA.

Brown tells GlobeSt.com the asking purchase price for the currently vacant property is $14.5 million, or about $45.66 per sf. He declined to provide an asking rental rate and says, “a sale is preferred.” The facility housed Me-Ed’s regional operations support and data center.

Calling it “closer to office” than industrial or lab in nature, Brown says the facility “is ideal for users seeking data center operations, general office, R&D laboratory space, or an adaptive reuse, such as self-storage.” It is located at the intersection of Rtes. 183 and 222 and Van Reed Rd. Brown says it has “unique infrastructure resiliency,” with dual fiber providers, dual points of entry, along with access to dual power feeds with raised floor areas in excess of 150,000 sf.
