SAN BERNARDINO, CA-ITT Educational Services Inc. has bought a 5.2-acre parcel at the corner of Gould Street and Carnegie Avenue in San Bernardino and plans to build a new technical school at the site, according to NAI Capital Commercial. Bill Lowder and Dawn Lowder of the Ontario office of Capital report that ITT paid more than $1.9 million for the land, which it acquired from Glenborough Realty Trust and Rancon Real Estate. The Lowders and Drew Augustin of NAI Olympia Partners in Indianapolis, IN represented the technical school, with the sellers representing themselves. Dawn Lowder tells GlobeSt.com that the new school is slated to be a 38,000-sf, single-story, concrete tilt-up building that is expandable to 45,000 sf. ITT plans to break ground in late summer this year on the now-vacant 5.2-acre parcel and to open the new school in spring 2005. The new facility will include classrooms, offices and conference facilities. It will replace a school of approximately 20,000 sf that ITT now occupies as tenants in leased facilities across the street. Dawn Lowder notes that the new school will be located within what the high tech office corridor of San Bernardino that is close to the 215 and 10 freeways near Hospitality Lane.Publicly held ITT Educational Services Inc. provides technology-oriented degree programs at 77 ITT Technical Institutes in 30 states, with approximately 38,000 students, according to the Indianapolis-based company’s web site. It has operated the schools since 1969, with programs in its School of Information Technology, the School of Electronics Technology, the School of Drafting and Design, the School of Business and the School of Criminal Justice.
