LONG GROVE, IL-Freescale Semiconductor has leased 40,000 sf at 4 Kemper Dr. in the Kemper Lakes Corporate Center. The Austin, TX-based semiconductor company takes about 25% of the building owned by Lumbermans Mutual Casualty, Inc.

Meanwhile, Evanston also is helping the north suburbs retain its spot as the suburbs’ strongest office submarket. Tenants have staked out nearly 22,000 sf of space in three buildings there, led by National Merit Scholarship Corp., which signed a 13,548-sf renewal at 1560 Sherman Ave.

The 490,000-sf Kemper Lakes Corporate Center includes an auditorium, conference facilities, day care center, fitness center, two cafeterias, golf course and tennis courts. NAI Hiffman executive vice president Michael Flynn, SIOR, and senior associate James Adler represented Freescale Semiconductor. Cushman & Wakefield of Illinois executive director Kent Ilhardt represented Lumbermans Mutual Casualty, Inc.

HSA Commercial Real Easte senior vice president Wayne Shulman represented National Merit Scholarship Corp. in negotiations with Howard Perino of Cushman Wakefield, who represented building owner Rotary International. Shulman also represented Dynix in a 7,568-sf sublease of surplus space at 1007 Church St. to Printable Promotions, represented by Bill Mass of Golub & Co. Shulman represented ADF Capital Ltd.in a 1,592-sf lease at 1603 Orrington Ave. Building owner CFRI/Golub Evanston LLC also was represented by Mass.
