NORWALK, CT-Cushman & Wakefield reports that the Interpublic Group of Companies has signed a lease for 110,000 sf of space at the 800 Connecticut Ave. office complex here.The New York City-based advertising and marketing services firm has already begun moving employees into the 400,000-sf complex. The deal involves the relocation of six Interpublic divisions in Fairfield County: Wahlstrom Group and Octagon Inc., from their respective offices at 1290 and 1266 East Main St. in Stamford, Marketing Drive Worldwide and Marketing Corporation of America from 372 Danbury Rd. in Wilton and Media Partnership Corp. and Right Source Inc. from 40 Richards Ave. in Norwalk.Interpublic signed a 12-year lease for part of the first floor and the entire second and third floors in the East Wing of the complex, as well as the entire third floor in the North Wing. Cushman officials say the move to the 800 Connecticut Ave. building will be completed within the year. Octagon Inc. has already moved from its 39,000-sf Stamford offices to the Norwalk property.Edward Weiss, Gerry Lees, Robert Thuss and Melisa Schneider of Cushman & Wakefield represented Interpublic in its location analysis and in lease negotiations. Frank Saphire of Hines Interests, the general partner overseeing the building’s leasing and management, represented the property owner, National Office Partners LP.Weiss, a vice chairman with C&W, says the office search was centered on Fairfield County only and the requirement had been on the market for about a year. “Interpublic was focused on finding the right space for its employees with a lease agreement that provided flexibility. Ownership accommodated the firm’s anticipated future growth by offering expansion opportunities within the building,” he says. “800 Connecticut Ave. was an ideal choice because of its location, high quality infrastructure and its amenities.” C&W’s Lee, a senior director with the brokerage firm, says the keys to Interpublic’s decision to lease at 800 Connecticut Ave. included Norwalk’s central location and accessibility. Other major tenants at 800 Connecticut Ave. include Priceline.com, Muehlstein, Hitachi and GE Capital.
