SCARSDALE, NY-Ginsburg Development LLC bested six other bidders and was selected by the Village of Scarsdale’s Land Use Committee recently to design and develop a mixed-use parking garage on Christie Place here. The project will include age-restricted housing, some retail as well as new parking facilities.

Ginsburg, which is based in Hawthorne, NY, won the key village approval from the Land Use Committee, which was acting on behalf of the Scarsdale Village Board. The committee voted to negotiate an agreement with Ginsburg. The proposed plan calls for 36 luxury, age-restricted condominiums, 12,000 sf of retail space, a landscaped rooftop plaza, a police kiosk, public restrooms and 383 parking spaces. The complex will be built on a village-owned parking lot that totals 69,020-sf and is located across from the Metro North railroad tracks. The building will be designed to conform to the Tudor style of Scarsdale’s downtown district, Ginsburg officials say.

Martin Ginsburg, principal of Ginsburg Development says of the firm’s selection for the project, “Throughout this process, we’ve worked hard to craft a proposal that would allow the village to meet all of its goals.”

The plan must now work its way through the village approval process. Although no firm construction start date was released, a Ginsburg spokesman estimates the project would cost approximately $40 million to complete. Village officials say the benefits of the mixed use garage project would be to increase public parking, provide public amenities and financial benefits to the village and improve the aesthetics of the Downtown area.

Other Ginsburg projects in development include: Kensington Woods in New Rochelle, Harbors at Haverstraw, Ichabod’s Landing in Sleepy Hollow, Marbury Corners in Pelham, Riverbend in Peekskill, Woodland Hills in Danbury, CT, the Goodwin Estate in Hartford, CT, and the Greens at Gillette Ridge in Bloomfield, CT.
