NEW YORK CITY-The YWCA of the City of New York has signed a 15-year lease for 22,645 sf of headquarter space at the nearly 400,000-sf 52 Broadway. The YWCA will relocate from 610 Lexington Ave.–the site has been its home base since 1915. The move is expected to take place in mid-June.

Mark P. Boisi, chairman, and Neil A. Lipinski, senior managing director, of Colliers ABR represented the building owner, United Federation of Teachers, while Jim Quinn and Duncan McCuaig of Cushman & Wakefield represented the YWCA. The organization will be the first outside tenant in the 19-story site since UFT purchased the site in 2002. Financial arrangements were not released.

“The YWCA’s relocation from a prime Midtown location to 52 Broadway demonstrates the continued strength of the Downtown market,” Boisi says. He notes that the building’s existing auditorium and classroom facilities will enable the YWCA to continue providing services including job training, leadership development and after-school programs. Rennie Roberts, CEO of the YWCA of the City of New York expects the new headquarter to be a “hub” of activity and “extend our reach with more programs and services for girls and boys where they live and learn.”
