STAMFORD, CT-The Thomson Corp has signed a lease expansion for an additional 17,161 sf of space at the Metro Center complex here. The deal brings the information services firm’s leased corporate headquarters space at the property to 99,227 sf.

Jeffrey H. Newman, executive vice president of W&M Properties, the building’s marketing and managing agent, says that Thomson took space on the sixth floor. The transaction also involves the extension of Thomson’s lease for another 27,204 sf of existing space on the sixth floor that will now expire in 2020–the same time as its new leased space.

Newman was assisted by Jason D. Pizer, director of leasing, and Kathleen A. Caracappa, senior leasing associate. Thomson was represented by Joseph A. Cabrera and Michael Gordon of Cushman & Wakefield. W&M Properties is the real estate management, marketing and acquisition arm of the Malkin family, which has commercial and residential operations in eight states.

W&M Construction will build out the new space for the tenant, company officials say. Thomson, headquartered here, has 40,000 employees and has operations in 45 countries. The firm, which posted revenues of $8.1 billion in 2004, also occupies approximately 55,000 sf of space for its learning division at W&M’s 200 First Stamford Place building.

Metro Center, built in 1986, is an eight-story, 280,000-sf, multi-tenanted building located at One Station Place adjacent to the Stamford Transportation Center. The building is 100% leased. Other tenants include Jefferies & Co. Inc., OMI Corp., Media Networks and Susquehanna Financial.
