WASHINGTON, DC-Just over four years after being appointed to the position of Public Buildings Service Commissioner for the General Services Administration, F. Joseph Moravec will leave that post. The 25-year commercial real estate industry veteran will return to the private sector, making the departure from his government position effective as of August 1.

Moravec brought with him to his position a vast history in the world of commercial real estate, having held leadership roles at Leggat McCall & Werner, Grubb & Ellis, Barnes, Morris, Pardoe & Foster and Faison. He left his job as senior advisor for business development at George Washington University to accept the GSA appointment.

At the GSA, he spearheaded management of approximately 345 million sf of space contained in 8,000 public and private properties. “His implementation of President Bush’s Management Agenda, especially in the areas of Human Capital and Asset Management, have contributed to a major improvement of PBS and of GSA so that the agency is recognized for its superior customer service,” GSA administrator Stephen A. Perry notes. As of today, no replacement has been named, but an interim leader is expected to be announced, a PBS spokesperson tells GlobeSt.com.
