HARRISBURG, PA-Under the direction of the Governor’s Action Team, the Dept. of Community and Economic Development released just more than $8.4 million to fund nine economic development projects in eight counties. Gov. Ed Rendell says the investment will leverage more than $25 million in private-sector funds.

In Bucks County, Advanced Engineering Technologies is expanding and relocating its headquarters to Croydon at a projected cost of nearly $2.3 million. DCED’s funding aggregates $967,000 from across several state programs.

Canada-based Traditional Bakery is establishing its first US manufacturing facility in Montgomery County at a cost of $2.7 million, with $1 million in DCED funding. Also in Montgomery County, RecoverCare, which makes specialty beds, is acquiring a 30,000-sf building in Plymouth Meeting at a projected cost of just over $3.8 million. DCED is contributing approximately $1.3 million to the company’s expansion.

Starcom Paperworks is expanding its manufacturing operations in Lancaster at a cost of just over $7 million with a DCED contribution of nearly $2.5 million. At a cost of $481,000, Primedia Inc. is consolidating offices outside Pennsylvania at expanded quarters in Harrisburg with a state grant of $150,000. Other projects include expansion of Keystone Filler & Manufacturing Co. in Lycoming County, Leer East in Northumberland County, Federal Carbide Co. in Altoona in Blair County and Chemcut Holding in Centre County.
