Executive Watch
Jonathan A. Schein - President & CEO - Real Estate Media - GlobeSt.com09/27/05:There are many lessons to be learned from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. One, certainly, is how the government at all levels can respond more effectively. Another is how much we need to retool our energy policies. Right now, gas prices in New York top $3.00 a gallon and, most likely, we aren’t going to see a major rollback. Policymakers in Washington, DC have been talking a great game about developing new energy sources and freeing us from our dependence on fossil fuels. Well, as our legislators start visiting their home districts for re-election, they may start to see how vulnerable our economy is to the impact of energy prices, and that their jobs are just as vulnerable.
