DALLAS-Koll Development Co. has added four more key players in three markets, bringing 117 years of combined commercial experience to the already seasoned roster.

Steve Van Amburgh, CEO for the Dallas-based Koll, tells GlobeSt.com that the hiring spree is done for now, with new players either seated or about to be seated in Charlotte, NC, Atlanta and Dallas. “But, we always want to make certain we have plenty of depth and high-quality team members,” he adds, explaining it takes a minimum of 10 years’ experience to earn a berth on the 40-employee roster, which has 30 executives at the vice president level or higher.

The newest hire, which was locked in yesterday, is Larry Wilson Jr., a Dallas native who’s been named senior vice president and partner in the Charlotte office to oversee build-to-suit deals in the Southeast. Wilson, with 20 years’ experience, begins Monday. He was vice president for Crescent Resources LLC, a Southeast US developer based in Charlotte.

Boeck’s role will be to ensure Koll’s Intellicenterbuildings “meet the highest LEED certifications possible,” says Van Amburgh, adding his role includes developing other sustainable development strategies. Angel, former principal with Sugarloaf Development Group, is overseeing the first Intellicenter building, which just broke ground in Atlanta. And, he’s about to get two more projects in the Southeast, both of which are in final stages of lease negotiations and should be ready to discuss in 30 days, Van Amburgh says.

In Dallas, Koll is making it known that it recently snagged local well-known broker, John Brownlee from Houston-based Hines, a 17-year industry veteran who’s been named senior vice president. His focus is overseeing the EDS portfolio as well as securing additional build-to-suit projects.

The Dallas office also got Kurt Petersen as vice president of project and construction management, who is spearheading fast-track construction on Fluor Corp.’s corporate headquarters build-to-suit in Las Colinas. He was with Dallas-based DalMac Construction Co. for 22 years.

“There seems to be an inordinate amount of build-to-suit opportunities in the Carolinas, Georgia and Florida,” Van Amburgh says. “We felt like Larry was too good to pass up.”Wilson will be working closely with the Atlanta office, which just got two key players from its markets. Koll hired consultant Tom Boeck, with 20 years’ experience, as vice president of sustainable development and Wayne Angel, a 30-year professional, as senior project manager.

The Dallas additions take the total to three top executives in recent months. Mark Cashman was brought on board three months ago as a senior vice president to lead the Intellicenter initiative in Dallas/Fort Worth. The hires in Atlanta and Charlotte round out the Intellicenter’s lead team for now, according to Van Amburgh.
