KISSIMMEE, FL-Bowing to strong opposition from residents, Kissimmee city commissioners have rejected an estimated $100-million redevelopment plan by private developers to erect 400 residential condominiums and an undetermined number of condo-hotel rooms.

Bob Snow, the lead developer of the Kissimmee Landing development team, tells GlobeSt.com he “doesn’t know at this time” if he and his associates will resubmit a revised development plan to the city. Austin, TX-based FaulknerUSA and Orlando developer Carson Good worked with Snow on the proposal for a year at a personal cost to the developers of about $200,000.

The Kissimmee Community Redevelopment Agency had previously approved Faulkner’s lakefront proposal. Snow and Good joined Faulkner’s group in September to push the project. City commissioners couldn’t be reached at GlobeSt.com’s publication deadline to learn what the next step would be for the acreage. However, city staffers say the city will hold a series of public hearings in the near future to learn what residents would like to see in a redevelopment project.

Besides the residential and commercial condos, the Snow-Faulkner-Good proposal included a restaurant; marina improvements; a wider sidewalk along Lake Tohopekaliga; and transformation of the old power plant into a brew pub, grocery or restaurant.

FaulknerUSA is still trying to convince Osceola County commissioners to develop an estimated $400-million, 250,000-sf project, as GlobeSt.com previously reported. That proposal is pending.
