Marshalls/HomeGoods Will Open at Palmer Square

NEW ROCHELLE, NY-A combination of Marshalls and HomeGoods will serve as the anchor tenant of the new Palmer Square shopping center to be built on Palmer Ave. and Petersville Road here. Developer Rosenshein Associates of Mamaroneck says the pair will occupy about 85% or about 62,000 sf of the 73,000-sf center that adjoins a Super Stop & Shop store.

Bernard Rosenshein, president of Rosenshein Associates, says the project will break ground next month. The shopping center will be built at the Power Fasteners factory building, which will be completely redeveloped. Power Fasteners, a manufacturer of drilling and anchoring systems, is relocating its operations to Putnam County. A spokesperson for Rosenshein says that the reconstruction project will include some demolition as well as a 25,000-sf addition to the front of the building.

The Palmer Square shopping center will also include 11,000 sf of other retail space as well as a four-level 290-space parking garage. It is scheduled to open in August 2006.

Gregg DeAngelis of Mamaroneck, the architect for the project, says that Palmer Square is “going to evoke the character of an historic, industrial building at a town square. The new clocktower will help to evoke that fell.” The refurbished building will be made of brick with stone and stucco accents and a metal roof.

The combination Marshalls/HomeGoods superstore is a prototype concept that will have no separation and will thus allow inter-shopping between the two retailers, Rosenshein officials say. Parent company the TJX Cos. of Framingham, MA operates TJ Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods, AJ Wright and Bob’s Stores in the US, as well as Winners and HomeSense in Canada and TK Maxx in Europe.
