Executive Watch
Perspective
Jonathan A. Schein - President & CEO - Real Estate Media - GlobeSt.com11/8/05: Last week’s Executive Watch focused on the fact that Meg Whitman is the CEO of a company that is comparable to all 23 office REITs combined in terms of market capitalization.  A closer look will also reveal that not one of these REITs has a woman at the helm. A recent benchmarking study conducted by Commercial Real Estate Women and 10 other industry associations makes it clear that women still haven’t reached the top echelon, either in terms of compensation or in C-suite status. In an upcoming UpClose interview on GlobeSt.com, Ginger Bryant, 2005 president of the CREW Network, reveals her belief that, although women are definitely gaining stature in senior-management positions, the top prize is still elusive. The real hope is that one day a column like this won’t need to be written, and the likes of Meg Whitman will be commonplace in this industry.
