SECAUCUS, NJ-MSNBC-TV is out of its headquarters and production facility here, and owner Hartz Mountain Industries has put the 191,000-sf building at 40 Hartz Way back on the market for lease as a production facility with its broadcast infrastructure largely intact. MSNBC left the building as part of a larger news division restructuring by NBC that includes moving MSNBC to the home office at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in Manhattan.

“The New York area’s appetite for production studios continues to grow, and the same attributes that drew MSNBC to us 10 years ago are more important today than they were then,” says Emanuel Stern, president and COO of the locally based Hartz Mountain. “All of the major NBC talent over the past 10 years has come through these studios.”

Besides those studios, the building includes everything from a video monitor wall, to a technical director’s station, an audio mix room, a vocal booth and a website studio. The property is capped by a two-story entrance lobby and an open-office floor plan, plus large storage areas and even an on-site make-up and hair salon.

“The appeal of ‘warehouse,’ or large expansive spaces by studios has attracted many studio uses to our Harmon Cove and other Meadowlands locations,” says Ernie Cristoph, leasing agent for Hartz. “This facility has the latest cutting-edge technology already in place for the right company, and offers more value than starting from scratch.”
