PHILADELPHIA-Day & Zimmerman has signed a lease for 122,000 sf at 1500 Spring Garden St. The company, which provides a wide range of services, including outsourcing solutions for government and industry, will relocate its global headquarters from 1818 Market St. this summer.

The Spring Garden property is a former Smith Kline pharmaceutical plant that was acquired by locally based Amerimar Enterprises in 2000 and subsequently converted to a class A facility with redundant technological capabilities. Amerimar continues to operate the building, and Andrew Bleznak, a member of the owner-partnership, previously told GlobeSt.com the renovation exceeded $100 million.

Day & Zimmerman joins CBS3, which is the local CBS television affiliate; North American Publishing Co., and Independence Blue Cross and takes occupancy to 70%, according to Bleznak. He declined to disclose the value of the lease, but tells GlobeSt.com that Day & Zimmerman not only saves money with the move, but also “can stack space in a more flexible and efficient manner.”

Construction of the new Day & Zimmerman space, which spans four floors, is slated for this July. In a statement, Hal Yoh, president and CEO, says the move provides “the opportunity to design modern, innovative offices” that reflect the company’s “forward-thinking business focus.” The space will include computer training rooms, video conferencing capabilities and other advanced technologies for the company, is one of the country’s largest privately held companies with 150 locations worldwide.

George Cauffman and Joseph Wolff of the local office of CB Richard Ellis represented the owner. Sal Ambrosio and Derek Wood of Radnor-based Tactix Real Estate Advisors represented the tenant.
