NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA-The retail portion of NoHo Commons, developed by J.H. Snyder Co., has opened at the transit-oriented development, with a 32,500-sf HOWS Market and other tenants already signed for nearly 90% of the space in the 60,000-sf project. The Snyder development is just across the street from the terminus of the Metro Red Line subway and the Metro Orange Line busway, two major transit hubs for commuters to and from downtown Los Angeles and across the San Fernando Valley.

In addition to the HOWS Market, tenants include Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, California Pizza Kitchen’s CPK ASAP, Cold-Stone Creamery, T-Mobile, Daphne’s Greek Café, Wells Fargo Bank, Booster Juice and Panda Express. Michael Wise, senior partner at the J.H. Snyder Co., notes that the next phase of the project will include a Laemmle Theaters cinema.

The retail building was designed to serve as the gateway to the NoHo Arts District by incorporating electronic art into the building along Lankershim Boulevard and murals on the public spaces in the adjoining garage. The pieces were created by local artists Damon Seeley and Cameron McNall of Electroland and Christina Ulke.

J.H. Snyder Co. is the master developer for NoHo Commons. When complete, the three residential components of NoHo Commons will feature 870 newly built housing units within walking distance of mass transit.

The retail building is adjacent to the 292-unit Lofts at NoHo Commons and part of a master plan that includes the Gallery at NoHo Commons, a 438-unit apartment complex. Other elements of the final phase will include the Laemmle Theaters movie house, a five-story, 100,000-sf office building; and a residential complex with approximately 140 units. Construction on final phase is schedule to begin on the last phase in late 2007.
