Sixth Avenue Electronics Looks to Move HQ

SPRINGFIELD, NJ-Sixth Avenue Electronics, currently based here, is gearing up to move its headquarters to larger quarters to support its ongoing expansion. The retail chain is in the market for as much as 150,000 sf in an existing building in Northern New Jersey to house both its headquarters offices and its main distribution operations, according to company officials.

“The company is looking to buy a single-level building within a 20-minute drive of the George Washington Bridge,” says Carl Minue, sales associate at the Old Bridge-based RJ Brunelli & Co., which has been hired by Sixth Avenue Electronics to find the new site.

The pending HQ move comes as the chain, founded in 1984 in Manhattan by the Temiz family, recently opened its second store on New York’s Long Island and is gearing up to unveil its initial outlet in New Jersey’s Ocean County. Additional stores on Long Island, and moves into Connecticut and Philadelphia’s suburbs are also on the company’s radar screen, say company officials.

“In addition to the distribution center and headquarters, we’re currently looking for more store sites,” Minue confirms. “The company prefers to buy, as opposed to lease, its real estate, including store sites.”
