[IMGCAP(1)]SALISBURY, MD-CB Richard Ellis’ Baltimore office is linking up with a full service brokerage on Maryland’s Eastern Shore to jointly market properties there as well as in Southern Delaware. It is not a formal collaboration or joint venture, John Blumer, managing director of CBRE’s Baltimore office tells GlobeSt.com. Instead, the two companies will leverage each other to better service their respective customer bases.

“We have had some clients looking for service on the Eastern shore where we don’t currently have representation,” Blumer explains. Also, some of Schneiders’ clients had been seeking more in depth services, such as appraisal, property management, financing and representation in outside markets that the firm couldn’t provide.

[IMGCAP(2)]Blumer says there are about eight to 10 listings currently under the collaboration with an aggregate value of $20 million. These include a hotel in Ocean City, a shopping center in Princess Anne and retail-and-office mixed use project in Salisbury.

Joe Schneider, president of Schneider Commercial, tells GlobeSt.com that the partnership will bridge the gap between the Eastern shore market and the major markets of Baltimore, Delaware and Washington, DC. “We will now be able to augment our extensive knowledge of the Eastern Shore market with the CBRE global platform,” he says.

A very small but storied part of Maryland, the Eastern shore has been attracting commercial and residential developers for a number of years now. As a result, real estate firms with national platforms are increasingly linking up with local service providers. Last year, for instance, Sperry Van Ness, an Irvine, CA-based brokerage firm, and Salisbury-based Miller Commercial Real Estate partnered to form Sperry Van Ness-Miller Commercial Real Estate.
