WASHINGTON, DC-Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP, a Chicago-based law firm, is relocating its DC office to 2900 K St. from its current space at 1025 Thomas Jefferson St. The law firm has inked a 15-year, 72,000-sf lease in the K Street building, which it will occupy this summer.

Pat Marr and Art Santry of CB Richard Ellis represented Katten Muchin Rosenman. Bob Schwartz of Jones Lang LaSalle represented the building’s owner, Armada/Hoffler. Asking rates for the 130,000-sf building are $42 per sf net. The law firm took the second, third and a big part of the fourth floor, Santry tells GlobeSt.com, thus expanding from its current space use by more than a third.

A small and exclusive submarket, Georgetown sees few buildings deliver. This particular building was the first Georgetown office building to come to market in 20 years, according to CBRE. It is a two-building office and residential complex connected by an underground parking structure. Katten Muchin Rosenman will occupy space in the seven-story North Building, known as Harbourside, which delivered in summer 2007. The South Building, a 72,000-sf, five-story structure, opened in fall 2006 and is home to the Swedish Embassy.
