NEW YORK CITY-The second phase of an $80-million capital improvement program has begun at 112 W. 34th St., a W&H property in the Penn Plaza district. The program’s first phase centered on the renovation of the property’s stone and marble lobby, which now features a new, undulating ceiling, raised from 15 to 30 feet in height, a security desk with concierge services, and new entryways at both 34th and 33rd streets.

The second phase is equally ambitious, encompassing a modern and energy-efficient glass curtain wall; renovated and air-conditioned public corridors and renovated bathrooms, reveals Barry Zeller, executive director of Cushman & Wakefield, the building’s managing and leasing agent. “The renovations have generated a great deal of interest from the brokerage community and prospective tenants, and have led to lease signings and expansions by many prestigious firms, including Aeropostale, Carr Business Systems and Parigi Group, to name a few,” Zeller says. “Now that we’re entering the second phase of the program, we’re gaining even more momentum in leasing activity.”

Located across from Macy’s, 112 W. 34th St. contains 26 stories and more than 800,000 sf. It offers access to the Long Island Rail Road, New Jersey Transit, Amtrak, the Port Authority Terminal, PATH and 15 subway lines. Part of the W&H Properties portfolio, the building is owned by 112 W. 34th St. Associates LLC, a partnership led by Peter L. Malkin. Available space at the property ranges from 3,000 sf to 40,000 sf.
