Successfully introducing new software in a real estate business is a two-pronged challenge. It requires knowing what steps to take, as well as knowing the ones to avoid. Unless businesses do both, they’re likely to make mistakes, says Fritz Schindelbeck, vice president of professional services at Yardi Systems, a Santa Barbara, CA-based company that designs, develops and supports integrated asset and property management software.

Last month, Schindelbeck offered tips for assessing new software. Now he’s sharing the top 10 things to avoid when considering a proposed software upgrade or implementation. The list, he adds, reflects “the most egregious errors we have witnessed in the industry.”
