WHITE PLAINS-After four years with the company, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. has named Densie Coll president of its North America division. Coll, a veteran in the hotel business for more than 30 years, will now oversee operations, sales and marketing for more than 450 Starwood hotels in the US, Canada, US Virgin Islands, Bahamas, French Polynesia and British West Indies. She now reports to Matt Quimet, president, Hotel Group for Starwood.

“In addition to her exceptional track record as one of the hotel industry’s most seasoned and successful operators, Coll has spent most of her career with Starwood and Sheraton, has a deep understanding of the organization and its culture and continues to earn respect and admiration from all with whom she works,” Ouimet says. The North America division is the largest of the White Plains-based hotelier’s operating divisions, generating more than $9 billion in revenue for the company.

Coll joined Starwood in 2004 as regional VP of operations for New England and was later promoted in 2005 to SVP of operations for the North America division. She began her career in 1977 with ITT Sheraton Corp. as reservation manager at the Sheraton Boston Hotel. During her time there she held such positions as: director of user design and training; VP and area managing director; VP, director of staff services and SVP and area director of operations, North America division. In 1998, she joined Boston’s Seaport Cos., a subsidiary of Fidelity, as COO. In 2003 Coll was named SVP and general manager overseeing the Seaport Hotel & Seaport World Trade Center in Boston.

Coll earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and a master’s degree in Business Administration from Simmons College.
