NEW YORK CITY-Locally based Dreier LLP adds Dina Tolia Gupta to the firm as of counsel in the Real Estate Department. She will practice in the firm’s Stamford, CT office.

Gupta was previously an associate at Paul Hasting Janofsky & Walker LLP in Stamford. A source close to the firm tells GlobeSt.com that the firm has “definitely had some merger activity lately.” The source further notes that the firm plans to expand the real estate practice.

“We are pleased to welcome Dina to the firm. Her expertise in real estate law is a great complement to our current capabilities,” states Joseph Pastore III, partner at Dreier LLP in the Litigation Department and administrative partner of the Stamford office. “Her experience, enthusiasm and expertise will play an important role as we continue to expand our real estate practice in Stamford.”

Gupta’s practice includes the representation of owners, managers, lenders, borrowers, participants, investors, originators and mezzanine lenders, real estate developers, REITs, institutional investors and lenders. Gupta handles matters involving the acquisition, financing, leasing, development, refinancing, management and disposition–including Section 1031-like kind exchanges–of single asset and portfolios of multifamily, retail, industrial, office, condominium and hotel properties. She assists in the structuring and negotiation of sophisticated partnership, joint venture and limited liability company operating agreements.

Dreier LLP’s Stamford office has grown to 17 attorneys since its opening in 2005. Gupta joins Regina Flaherty, of counsel, as the second attorney to join Dreier LLP from Paul Hasting Janofsky & Walker LLP in Stamford.

The Dreier LLP Stamford office focuses on litigation, white collar crime, transactional matters, tax, trusts and estates and real estate law. Its broad client base includes leading commercial and investment banks and other financial institutions. Dreier LLP has affiliate offices in Los Angeles and Santa Monica, CA; Albany; and Pittsburgh.

“Dreier LLP presents the opportunity to take part in building a premier real estate practice in Connecticut,” Gupta says. “The firm’s entrepreneurial environment also provides a great fit for my own approach, and as a full-service firm it also provides the ability to meet the needs of all clients on a larger scale.”
