NEWARK-Diversified Capital has completed a major renovation of its nearly 80-year-old 24 Commerce St. office building, and is now looking to fill up its available space. The Lakewood, NJ-based Diversified bought the asset in 2005 for an undisclosed price. Diversified has not released the renovation cost as of yet.

And to fill the space–approximately 45,000 sf of the total building area of 180,000 sf is listed as available–Diversified has given the exclusive to Weichert Commercial Brokerage. That firm’s SVP Beth Krinsky and VP Patrick Masi are heading the assignment.

“Given the building’s close proximity to public transportation and access to major highways, we’re confident that this space will generate high demand,” says WCB president John Udell. The 18-story tower is a block from this city’s multi-building Gateway Center and three blocks from Newark Penn Station.

The availability, as currently listed, includes office suites and open floor plans ranging from 313 sf to 7,500 sf, with possible expansion to 15,000 sf, at an asking price of $19.50 per sf. Current tenants at 24 Commerce St., also known as the Federal Trust Building, include Thornton-Tomasetti, KS Engineers, Studio Associates, PowerVision and a variety of smaller professional firms.
