COSTA MESA, CA-Shopping center developer and private REIT Donahue Schriber plans to debut nearly 1.5 million sf of new space at retail centers in California, Arizona and Nevada this summer and fall, according to Mark Whitfield, executive vice president of development services for Donahue Schriber. Whitfield says that the centers in the Costa Mesa-based company’s development pipeline will expands its geographic presence in the three states.

Three of the six new centers are in California. The first is Smoke Tree Commons, a 170,000-sf center located at East Palm Canyon and Barona Way in Palm Springs. Michaels, Cost Plus, Walgreens and Petco opened in June, with Jensen’s Specialty Market scheduled to open in September.

The second California center is Countryside Marketplace, a 732,000-sf center located at the southwest corner of I-215 and Newport Road in the newly incorporated city of Menifee. Super Target, Lowe’s and Kohl’s will be opening this fall, with other stores slated to open later.

The third California center is in the Central California town of Visalia. Orchard Walk East is one of two centers Donahue Schriber has under construction at the intersection of Riggin and Dinuba. The 296,000-sf center will be anchored by a Target that will be opening this fall.

In Nevada, Donahue Schriber is developing two centers on adjacent corners in Sparks that will both be opening in November. The first is Pioneer Meadows West, a 163,000-sf projectat the northwest corner of Vista Boulevard and Wingfield Hills Drive that will be anchored by a Raley’s supermarket. The second is Pioneer Meadows East, on the northeast corner, that will be anchored by a 17,000-sf Longs Drugs. These two projects represent almost $50 million in development and are being developed in joint venture with Tom Winn.

The company’s Arizona center will be in Surprise, where it will open a 70,000-sf venue called Greenway Marketplace, a Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market-anchored center located at the southeast corner of Reems and Greenway. Wal-Mart opened in April and the first of the 28,000 sf of shop tenants will open in November.
