SECAUCUS, NJ-Snatt USA Inc. has signed a five-year lease for 50,718 sf at Hartz Mountain Industries’ 200,000-sf 20 Enterprise Ave. industrial building within Harmon Cove Industrial Park here. For the third-party logistics company, the signing marks the roll-out of its North American operation by Milan-based parent Snatt. The site will operate as Snatt USA’s headquarters.

The tenant was represented by Jeff Chaus, president of Chaus Realty of Hasbrouck Heights, NJ, and locally based Hartz was represented in-house. Further terms of the signing were not released.

“We’d seen many buildings, and this one was ideal for us,” says Snatt USA president Marco Palazzi. “It is a perfect size. In Europe, we have more than 1.5 million sf of warehouse and office space. We wanted to begin in North America as a small start-up operation, but we plan to eventually develop just as large of an operation in North America as we have in Europe.”

Snatt USA’s clients will primarily be European exporters of designer apparel, and the local operation is expected to be up and running later this year. Besides its use as the company’s headquarters, it will also be a sorting facility for distribution of products to stores in the region. “We also like the proximity to Manhattan,” Palazzi says.

“Logistics companies are a crucial part of the business today,” Chaus says. “Snatt is a full-service operation–they can pick goods up at the airports or piers. They ticket and sort the items, then ship them to stores without manufacturers themselves having to take their own facilities and do the work.”
