FREMONT, CA-Nordstrom Inc. said Tuesday it will open a store here in fall 2010. The 35,000-sf store will be located at Creekside Landing, a new 500,000-sf shopping center being planned by Regency Centers.

Nordstrom will be one of three anchor tenants at the center, which will include a mix of retail and restaurant offerings. Regency Centers VP of investments Bruce Quall tells GlobeSt.com that one of the other anchors will be a 138,000-sf Target and that the third is a yet-to-be-determined anchor of about 140,000 sf. Target will own its property and Nordstrom will lease, says Quall, declining to discuss the specific terms of the deals.

Quall says construction is slated to commence next summer, which will give the company time to complete the entitlements and then process plans through the city. As part of the project, Quall says it will extend Fremont Boulevard, which is currently truncated, completing an arterial system that has been incomplete for a long time.

The center will include several quick-service and sit-down restaurants. The mix includes pad sites along a creek that runs through the property, allowing stand-alone restaurants to have patios overlooking the river.

“There’s a lot of demand for restaurants because the day population is so high with so many businesses in the area,” Quall says, “And then there’s the traffic count on Interstate 880, which is 180,000 cars a day.”

The Rack store will be Nordstrom’s sixth in the Bay Area. The fifth Rack in the Bay Area will open in Palo Alto in the spring. Nordstrom currently operates Rack stores in the Northern California cities of Colma, San Leandro, San Jose and San Francisco. Additionally, the company operates eight Nordstrom full-line stores in the Bay Area.
