IDI Starts Building at Lakeview

ORLANDO, FL-Industrial Developments International Inc. has started site work on its first local industrial project, a 359,590-square-foot warehouse/distribution building at Lakeview Distribution Center in Groveland, north of the city. The facility is part of a 48-acre site Atlanta-based IDI acquired in September at Christopher C. Ford Park.

“This project will provide tenants class A, large-scale distribution space that is in short supply in Orlando,” says Larry Dinner, vice president of leasing with IDI’s Fort Lauderdale office. He notes that the building’s 32-foot clear-height ceilings will allow for greater storage capacity.

IDI will also seek LEED certification for the Lakewood building once it is completed next summer, Dinner says. The building’s design will offer a range of energy-saving features such as an irrigation system that will reduce water consumption by at least half, as well as “white” roofing that will lower warehouse interior temperatures by 10 to 15 degrees.

Lakeview is located near Florida’s Turnpike with quick access to major US highways and interstates. The site is large enough to accommodate a second cross-dock building up to 357,450 square feet, according to IDI.

IDI has developed more than 120 million square feet of industrial space valued at $5.3 billion in several major markets throughout the Southeast and Midwest. Its nearest buildings to Orlando are Madison Business Center and 301 Business Center, both in Tampa.
