HOLLYWOOD-Hudson Capital LLC has combined two of the locally based company’s properties, the storied Sunset Gower Studios and the former KTLA/Tribune Studios, to form a combined operation called Capital Studios at Sunset Bronson. Together, Capital Studios has a combined total of 23 sound stages and more than 700,000 square feet of office production and support space on 28 acres in the middle of Hollywood.

The former Sunset Gower Studios will now be called Capital Studios at Sunset Gower. The former KTLA/Tribune Studios have been operating as Sunset Bronson Studios but will now be known as Capital Studios at Sunset Bronson.

Hudson Capital’s principals are Victor Coleman and Howard Stern, both former executives at Los Angeles-based Arden Realty during Arden’s growth into the largest office landlord in Southern California before the publicly held REIT sold out to GE Real Estate in 2006. As part of the merging of the studios, Hudson Capital plans extensive renovations and upgrades of the properties, including the opening of a post-production building soon to be occupied by Technicolor that will be the first new office building to be constructed in Hollywood in the past 20 years. Technicolor is scheduled to move into the new, six-story office/post-production building in early 2009.

The Sunset Gower lot was originally the home of Columbia Pictures in the 1920s and was the studio where a host of movie classics were filmed, including “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington,” “From Here to Eternity,” “On the Waterfront,” “The Bridge on the River Kwai” and others. Capital Studios at both the Sunset Gower and Sunset Bronson locations are currently home to numerous film and television shows including “Gulliver’s Travels” on Fox, “Heroes” on NBC, “Hannah Montana” on Disney.
