NEW YORK CITY-Incisive Media’s Real Estate Group–publisher of GlobeSt.com–has revealed that one of the most trusted journalists covering the commercial real estate market today–Maria Wood–has been named editor of Real Estate New Jersey. Wood, a 16-year veteran of the firm, formerly served as senior editor of Real Estate Forum and managing editor of Real Estate Southern California. The promotion is the latest piece in an ongoing restructuring strategy taking place at the Real Estate Group.

Real Estate New Jersey is the most prominent publication focusing on the business of commercial real estate in the Garden State. The magazine boasts a circulation of 12,000 professionals.

Maria Wood brings to her new post an understanding of the forces behind the trends shaping the commercial real estate industry and the greater business market that drives it. Previously, in her role as senior editor of Real Estate Forum, Maria covered a range of cutting-edge topics, with a special focus on hotels and finance. She is also editor of the Hotels Sector page of GlobeSt.com, the predominant daily news and information website of the real estate industry.

But Wood’s focus hasn’t always been on the national scene, and prior to joining Real Estate Forum she was a correspondent for the Record in Hackensack, NJ. She also served stints as a news editor for the American Journal of Nursing and deputy copy chief for Woman’s World magazine.

Under the guidance of editorial director John Salustri, all editors within the Real Estate Group have–over the past few months–broadened the scope of their roles to encompass print and online formats with a growing emphasis on delivering content to readership in a variety of media. “Maria brings a variety of talents to this position,” says Salustri, “and these will be key as we expand still further and explore content strategies that mingle our webinars and our RealShare Conference events. Maria is the perfect choice to fill this expanding role. With associate editor Alyson Grala, we have a powerhouse New Jersey editorial team.”

“Maria brings to this position a reputation and visibility that is essential,” says group vice president Michael G. Desiato. “Her Forum credentials and her background as a reporter in the Garden State will both greatly expand the quality of content our New Jersey readers have come to expect and forward our corporate mission to deliver content over a broader range of formats. We’re excited about taking this important step in our restructuring strategy.”
