GLOUCESTER TWP., NJ-With just two months to go before its April grand opening, the Shoppes at Cross Keys is defying the odds and a difficult real estate market, says owner and developer Stanbery Development.

“Most of the remaining space should be committed by year-end,” says Raymond Brunt, a partner at Ohio-based Stanbery. “This is an amazing achievement in a difficult real estate environment, and a testament to our terrific location and outstanding demographics.”

Located at the intersection of Berlin-Cross Keys Road and the Atlantic City Expressway, Brunt tells GlobeSt.com that the area has grown rapidly thanks to the recent opening of the Atlantic City Expressway interchange and its strategic mid-point location between Philadelphia and Atlantic City.

The current tenant lineup consists of Ann Taylor Loft, Anytime Fitness, Banana Republic, Bensi Ristorante Italiano, Cheeburger Cheeburger, Chico’s, Coldwater Creek, Jos. A Bank, Justice for Girls, Lane Bryant, Moe’s Southwest Grill, New York & Co., Portrait Innovations, Rack Room Shoes, Sleep Number Beds, T-Mobile, White House/Black Market and Yankee Candle Co.

“This outstanding lineup also proves the strength of Stanbery’s concept–building niche centers that serve our communities’ specific needs,” Brunt says. “We combine the best retailers, dining experiences and services in an attractive environment that is convenient for our customer to use. By mid-year, Stanbery plans to operate six centers in New Jersey. In addition to the Shoppes at Cross Keys, the Shoppes at Hamilton will open in April, joining the Shoppes at Union Hill in Denville and the Shoppes at Old Bridge, Flemington and North Brunswick. The nine-year-old company’s portfolio also includes the Shoppes at Pierce Hill in Vestal, NY; English Village in North Wales, PA; Susquehanna Marketplace in Harrisburg, PA; and the Promenade at Coconut Creek, FL.

“Even during the boom years, Stanbery took great care to grow deliberately and intelligently,” Brunt says. “Doing so has given us the time to build the right projects at the right time, and to build strong relationships with our retailers. The tenants who continue to expand are growing with us.”
