SECAUCUS, NJ-Continuing to expand its presence throughout the country, Sports Authority will formally open a new store here at Hartz Mountain’s Mill Creek in Harmon Meadow–otherwise known as 31 Mill Creek Dr.–on April 4. The opening marks the retailer’s twenty-first Garden State store.

“We’re looking to expand our footprint in cities and towns that boast an active sports community, whether it’s as a fan or a dedicated participant,” says Sports Authority CEO Greg Waters. “Our formula of offering leading sporting goods brands and a consumer-friendly shopping experience has helped fuel this growth.”

That said, the new store will cater to the interests of area shoppers, from golf and hunting to cycling and soccer. It will offer items for team and individual sports, and will feature dedicated sections for footwear, apparel, winter sports, golf and fitness.

“Mill Creek has undergone a dramatic transformation in the past year, and the addition of Sports Authority is sure to elevate the redeveloped center to an even higher level with shoppers,” says Emanuel Stern, president and COO of Hartz Mountain Industries. “Harmon Meadow is home to stores that rank in the top of their chain’s sales, and we’re confident that Sports Authority will experience such success here.”

The Colorado-based sporting goods retailer is slated to open eight other locations on April 4, bringing the total number of Sports Authority retail outlets to 463 and adding 300 jobs nationwide. The new locations are: Victory Lakes Town Center in League City, TX; Nature Coast Commons in Spring Hill, FL; Stone Ridge Market in San Antonio, TX; Warwick, RI-based Warwick Mall; the Summit at Gravois Bluffs in Fenton, MO; Mesa, AZ-based Mesa Riverview; TownGate Crossing in Moreno Valley, CA; and East Palo Alto, CA-based Ravenswood 101.
