[IMGCAP(1)]LOS ANGELES-In a major step forward in its repositioning strategy, Incisive Media’s real estate group, which publishes GlobeSt.com and Real Estate Forum, is bringing one of its regional publications, Real Estate Southern California, to a national audience. The real estate group also produces Real Estate New York, Real Estate New Jersey and Real Estate Florida magazines as well as the RealShare Conference Series.

[IMGCAP(2)]The strategy also entails a broader market coverage than before, over more diverse platforms. To oversee that broadened, multi-tier approach, Natalie Dolce, formerly West Coast bureau chief for GlobeSt.com, rises to the position of editor of the West Coast region. She will report directly to editorial director John Salustri and work hand-in-hand with regional publisher Daniel Ceniceros on the new initiatives. Don Jergler, formerly editor of RESoCal, has moved on to other endeavors.

“It’s a changing market,” says group vice president Michael G. Desiato, “not only economically, but in terms of publishing and new directions in reader demand. The major firms–our primary reader base–long ago cast their nets over the national and international map. The globalization of business and finance and events taking place on Wall Street, in Washington, DC and across all international borders have dramatically revolutionized the real estate industry. Whether you’re in Los Angeles, New York or New Jersey, your focus today is probably as much national as it is local.”

Incorporating RESoCal in Real Estate Forum provides a number of benefits, Desiato explains. “The move will provide our national readership base with in-depth analysis of the Southern California commercial real estate market,” he says. “Simultaneously, it provides our California advertisers with a national platform. The combination also more clearly aligns Real Estate Southern California with Real Estate Forum, our flagship print publication.”

The move also clears the way for further advancements in the real estate group’s online and digital plans, announcements of which will be made in future weeks. “Increasingly, our readers are embracing digital content,” Desiato says. “This platform positions us squarely to fill that growing need.”

The May/June issue of Real Estate Forum will debut the Real Estate Southern California supplement.

The real estate group has been exploring areas of integration for the past year, in search of new delivery methods in keeping with advancements in technology. The movement began with editors integrating content between print and online vehicles. Later in 2008, sales professionals assumed responsibility for multiple products–print, online and conferences.

“The day of dedicated specialists in publishing is over,” Desiato adds. “The integration of content and talent is a necessary step at this juncture in media, and those who don’t recognize the movement are doomed to failure. For that reason, it was appropriate that Natalie take over the new, expanded position of West Coast editor. Her experience with all three formats–print, online and digital–suits her perfectly for this exciting new time in our history.”

In 2006, Real Estate Forum celebrated its 60th anniversary; this year, RESoCal marks its 10th anniversary.
