LEWISVILLE, TX-Following a close to year-long search, Orthofix International NV has selected Austin Ranch for its 144,000-square-foot regional headquarters, manufacturing and distribution facility. Dirt work on a build-to-suit for the facility will begin next week following an April 21 ground-breaking ceremony, with completion anticipated for the first quarter of 2010.

Carter Crow, vice president of leasing for Austin Ranch developer Billingsley Co. says the orthopedic equipment manufacturing company, represented by Chris Mason with Jackson Cooksey of Dallas, signed a 10-year lease for the facility, which will be on 8 acres at the corner of Plano Parkway and Tittle Drive.

Crow, who negotiated the deal on behalf of Billingsley Co. says Orthofix searched throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area for about 10 months to find a likely place to relocate. He tells GlobeSt.com that Orthofix’s management liked the Austin Ranch’s corporate campus feel, rolling hills and greenery. Also appealing was the location.

“They’re on (State Highway) 121, right down the road from the (Dallas Fort Worth International) airport,” Crow says. “They’re doing something different with the new facility that’s different from their current one. They’ll be increasing in size and bringing customers in to teach them how to install their products.” This means physicians and surgeons nationwide and from around the world will be coming to the new location.

With construction recently completed on highway 121, “it’s a 10-minute drive to the airport, which is convenient,” Crow says. Orthofix’s current location at 1720 Bray Central Dr. is about 15 minutes north and east of Austin Ranch and further from the airport.
