GLENVIEW, IL-Mead Johnson Nutrition Co. has leased 33,000 square feet to become the first tenant at Opus Gateway at The Glen. The pediatric nutrition company will move its corporate headquarters this month to the entire top floor of the 130,000-square-foot office at 2701 Patriot Blvd. The four-story building, located at the southeast corner of Patriot and Willow Road, was completed late last year by Opus North Corp.

The move comes following Mead Johnson’s separation from former parent company Bristol-Myers Squibb and initial public offering of common stock in February. “Locating our corporate office in Glenview will give us the ability to access the new skills and talent we need to operate as a publicly traded company and enhance our effectiveness as a global growth company,” Stephen Golsby, Mead Johnson president and CEO, says. “We would also like to thank Governor Quinn and Director Ribley and his staff at the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity for all of their support and welcoming Mead Johnson to Illinois.”

Following a national search, the new office was selected to house 50 executive management, finance, human resources, law, investor relations and global marketing staff members, of the company’s 5,300 global employees. The office building has about 97,000 square feet remaining available for asking lease rates around $20 per square foot. The eight-acre landscaped property is walking distance from the Metra train station and near interstates 294 and 94, and offers 508 parking spaces.

Mead Johnson’s building sits within the 1,200-acre The Glen mixed-use development, which offers office, retail, and residential components. The property is located in the north suburban submarket, where occupancy rates are around 83%, according to a recent Cushman & Wakefield office market report. Average asking lease rates in the submarket are around $28 per square foot gross, according to the research.
