NEW YORK CITY-John Salustri, editorial director of Incisive Media’s real estate group, will be featured on a panel of prominent journalists as the National Realty Club holds its first “Meet-the-Real-Estate-Media” lunch in several years. The two-hour panel discussion, focusing on working more effectively with the press, is scheduled for Monday, July 13 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Williams Club, 24 E. 39th St.

“Many of our members have been asking how they can get more coverage in the press, and how reporters decide what to cover,” says Thomas Graf, NRC president and VP/producer of Northmarq Capital. “That’s why we’re very excited to be able to present this program. In good times and in bad–and these are not the best of times–it’s important that real estate people understand how they can get their messages out to the all-important news media.”

Graf says some of his members’ questions include: Is real estate sufficiently covered, given the size of the industry? How do journalists decide what is news? Why one topic over another? Why one project over another? To what extent does advertising affect news coverage? What are the best ways to contact a journalist with a story idea, and what are the worst ways? How can real estate entities obtain fair and accurate coverage from the media? What makes a good interviewee?

Along with Salustri, who oversees GlobeSt.com as well as the real estate group’s print publications, the panelists include Fred Eliason of the New York Times, Dana Rubinstein of the New York Observer, Steve Cuozzo of the New York Post and Stuart Elliott of the Real Deal. Moderating will be David M. Grant, president of LVM Group, the public relations firm specializing for 35 years in real estate.
