[IMGCAP(1)]IRVINE, CA-In an expansion that reflects the steadily growing emphasis on property management since the economic downturn, the Orange County office of Sperry Van Ness has added two new professionals to its property management platform with the hiring of Benjamin Aiken and John Goodrich as senior portfolio managers. Jack Carroll, president of asset management for the Orange County office of SVN, says that the new hires are part of a plan to “continue to look to grow our property management and receivership business over the next few years” at the SVN office.

[IMGCAP(2)]The SVN Orange County office, which is independently owned and operated, is responsible for managing two million square feet throughout Southern California. Carroll says that this area is expected to grow as the firm is currently assisting lenders with receivership and management of distressed assets.

Aiken, with 10 years of property management and leasing experience, previously served as director of asset management for ICO Development, where he was responsible for a portfolio of office, industrial, retail, and multifamily assets in California, Colorado, and Missouri. He also held posts with CBRE and Equity Office.

Goodrich has more than 23 years of experience, previously serving as asset manager with Furst Commercial Real Estate, where he managed a portfolio of 15 properties totaling more than 1.7 million square feet. He also served in property management at Rreef.

The new hires at Sperry Van Ness are the latest in a series of expansions at property management firms and in the property management divisions of real estate services companies. Execs at the firms tell GlobeSt.com that building owners are placing a greater emphasis on property management and asset services since the advent of the recession.
